Museum Walks

Thanks goodness, museums are open now!
We took a visit to Kerrville, TX Museum of Western Art--
Both of these exhibits will be on display till August 1
Great exhibits for sure--special exhibits too!

You can't help but admire the paintings of G. Harvey
He gives us the bright light of night with his western paintings
This one is "Christmas Eve At the General Store"

"Christmas Ride"  I love the contrast of the horse/buggy with
'modern car'

"In HIs Footsteps" 1979

1980 painting "Mission Well"

Look how the light glows around the animals--
super exhibit!

"Second Generation"
All the paintings are on loan from L.D. Brinkman Collection.
so glad they shared!

What's on Your Bobbin?

How have you been doing with your spinning during this July 4th weekend?
Did you accomplish any goal you set?
Did you set a goal?
No worries, if you didn't achieve what you set out to accomplish--
hopefully, you are spinning some during the Tour de Fleece--
There will be another chance when the real Tour de France takes
off later this summer.
Here are some of my bobbin efforts--all need to be wound off
and plied--
so happy to spin up the last of one braid --the far bobbin with red/gold.
the front bobbin is the tencel/merino blend--
anyway--happy treadling!

He was born on July 4, 1918 and has been gone from this earth
since 1975-
-anyway, we will gather with our neighbors and
friends at the local airport tarmac and watch the fireworks
sprinkle in the sky!

Here are some fabulous recipes to bring to your firework party

It's Peach Season!!

It's peach season in our neck of the woods!  Orchard after orchard is
brimming with trees loaded with nice juicy peach fruit.  There are so many
varieties that come in all during the season--

The best part of peaches---the fruit will blend in with any recipe you can find--
Peach lemonade--Peach bourbon BBQ sauce--Peach salad--
How about this one--
Peach Bruschetta--Yummy!

And the desserts!!   This is one from Spruce Eats-Delicious!

The all time favorite is the peach cobbler--any way you can prepare it
with crust, just peaches with topping--oh wow!  outstanding.

My favorite was to slice peaches in a pie dish (without crust), sprinkle
with some cinnamon, little ginger, or other seasoning, then
sprinkle one of those Jiffy cake mixes on top, and pour a stick of
melted butter over the top--lordy, lordy--some good!

Now, that we are on the low carb food plan, we can not consume many peaches--
But, in this Keto friendly recipe we can have at least a small slice:
This recipe is supplied by This Moms Menu and
yes, we can have ice cream by Rebel (in your frozen section)
Okay, I'm off to pick more peaches!

Can't See The Trees For The Forest.....................

For months now, I've been working on Charismas Corner
American Country--the pattern is eye catching but guess what?
most of the blocks are paper pieced!

Each month I would receive a block with TREES! all needed
paper piecing--I tried to figure out a way to do measurements and
cut out each block--but that was taking more time than just getting
print outs and piece!  I'd think--there can't be anymore trees--then the next
month, another block of trees!
Don't get me wrong!  I love this pattern! or I wouldn't have bought it--

Every time I sit down to hook those trees up to each other, I
find there is another tree that I didn't construct!! like this one...

I did get the cabins made--just to do something besides trees!
and I made the flag--

Soon, very soon--I'll finish ALL those dang trees and
put it all together!

Beginnings of New Year Ideas

I'm already thinking about the new year and new beginnings--2024 was a lost year as far as new quilt starts--there was not a one began. ...
